cultivating mentors - how to?

hey all, I am trying to find mentors to help me accelerate my career, and take it into a more entreprneurial direction, and one that he me owning parts of businesses or starting my own, rather than toiling away in someone else's PE fund. But it raises the question - how do you cultivate mentor relationships? That is, how do you go about finding someone willing to help who has views and experiences drastically different than your own so that they can bring in totally new ideas and vectors to your thinking? I need to be outside of my own echo chamber. And then how do you really then leverage their help? I know it sounds simple - but if I'm really trying to make a quantum leap forward, how do I do so? I don't need another decade of small incremental improvements. I need a total shift in perspective.
