Dating Life in IB

What is dating like in IB for those of you trying to meet new people while working or who already have a girl? I ask because my relationship with my girl has already been slightly strained by recruiting(fewer dates than she'd like and spending less time overall) and I can only imagine it will be 3x worse if I make it into IB.

Looking for some color on this topic, please share your experiences if comfortable.

Not sure if you will find this helpful, but just some food for thought- I was a summer analyst this past summer and ended up ghosting a guy I was interested in as a result of being so overwhelmed with work. Looking back, I really regret this decision and it was (imo) dumb to put all of my mental capacity into a job that is likely temporary. That said, many of my IB coworkers were in healthy relationships with families, while some were old, still single, and without children lol. In other words, IB dating life definitely depends on your time management skills/how you prefer to spend your free time and your values. Good luck and happy new year!!

That makes sense but my main question is wouldn't going on dates and stuff be difficult especially if you are staffed on live deals or constantly pitching?

In my team nearly everybody is in a long-term relationship and it seems to be working.

I for one have been single throughout my whole 2 years as an analyst and had a lot of “short-term fun“. I went out a lot, met people online and in real life. I met a bunch of people and saw some of them for a few months but nothing long-term ever came of it.

Essentially it was the first time for me in a global city, I was/am young and wanted to experience partying and everything else the city had to offer. So in large part it was probably down to my own preferences, but would add that while the girls I dated were attractive I couldn‘t picture most of them as long-term girlfriends.

I’m now an associate and going out has become less exciting to me over time. I have increasingly felt ready for a relationship. I can now better commit sufficient time and my increased earnings are also helpful.
