Deferred MBA with lowGRE score
If international student who has low GRE or GMAT score should give up deferred MBA program? Even if the solid internship, good essay, letter of recommendation etc, that candidate is 100% rejected because only top 10 schools have deferred mba program?
Need more info. Are you URM? FGLI? LGBTQ+? Athlete? Target school? Define good job, is it MBB / top IB / FAANG, etc? Which country, is it underrepresented at an MBA program? Anything else special about your profile?
I think a poor score and deferred MBA is possible, but under extraordinary circumstances and an incredible profile. It will be VERY difficult since deferred MBAs are ultra competitive and you’ll likely be better off retaking and applying later. Don’t let it get your hopes down, deferred MBAs are incredibly selective and traditionally go after STEM majors / untraditional backgrounds with exceptional stats. It’s a little bit of luck even if you have a strong profile.
Agree with this. If you're a non-traditional, diverse STEM candidate with an outstanding GPA, you might get cut some slack as that profile is hard to recruit... Someone in finance headed to IB who is from an overrepresented country (India, China etc) is not going to have much shot with a GMAT/GRE more than a few points below the school's median. Finance types are at a disadvantage with deferred MBAs and you have to be truly exceptional to get in with that profile - administrators know they'll come back, can't say the same for STEM people.
Luckily GMAT and GRE are very practice based. Figure out which one you will do best at and study your butt off to apply for regular cycle MBA.
