What kind of a question is this... how is transferring to a more prestigious school going to hurt you? Just apply to all of them; Wharton, Ivies, you name it. I don't see where the tradeoff is; you can only benefit from this. And if you can't handle writing a few 500 word essays then maybe finance isn't for you.
