Uhh...yes it is. I grew up in NYC. And yea we're all aware that there is "supposed" to be a rivalry...but I had no idea anybody still gave a damn about it until I moved to Boston for school and I saw how bitter fans here are. I mean people wear "Jeter Sucks" T-shirts when the Sox play the Expo's for chrissakes.
You apparently mustn't be a very serious Yankees Fan, because I have worn my Red Sox jersey to multiple games in New York.
Let's just say I wasn't exactly greeted with the pleasantries of good sportsmanship.
My favorite incident was after a game in a bar when a 45 year old New Yorker tells his 7 year old son (yes, the kid is in the bar at 11 something on a school night) to come over and start kicking me, which the kid does.
What I am supposed to do? Beat up the 7 year old kid? Now a New Yorker probably would advocate that, but then again that's New York for you.
And no, I am not from Boston.
By the way, those "Jeter Sucks" shirts are really old. We are now onto "Jeter Swallows" and my personal favorite, "Jeter Sucks A-Rod" (pun intended)

Funny you brought that up, I totally forgot about the crazy amount of money the sox paid just to talk to Dice-K. I'd be willing to bet that if you counted that as payroll, the sox would have a higher payroll this year than the yankees.
I can't argue that we don’t spend the most amount of money next to the Yankees becasue we do. If we didn't there would be no competition in the rivalry. It would be like 1996 all over again. Screw the salary cap.
Living in the past? The Yanks have won more Championships in the last 10 years than any other team. Been to more World Series in that stretch more than any 3 teams. You can't be serious.
1996-Champs 1998-Champs 1999-Champs 2000-Champs 2001-World Series 2003-World Series 2005-ALCS AL East Pennant every single year. And if we've won the pennant, how many non-playoff years have we had in that stretch? You do the math.

The sox had one good year, and after that they've done worse and worse even with the amount of money their spending. The yankees on the other hand, might not have one multiple world series, but they have excelled year, after year, after year...I can't even remember the last time the yankees didn't win the AL East pennant.

Two years ago he had an ERA of a touchdown at the end of April and finished the season with an ERA of 1.38. He does this every year. I want you to write his ERA down today, divide it by 3, and I bet it's lower than whatever number you come up with by September 30th. Mo is the last person I'd every worry about on the Yanks. Greatest closer in the history of the game. Even Red Sucks Nation can't argue that...

Who gives a shit about ERA when your saved game totals have decreased by about 8-9% per year.
Ever consider the fact that he hasn't had as many save opportunities? Considering he only had THREE blown saves all of last season, 4 in 2005, and 4 in 2004, gotta say I'm not too worried. Yanks offense has been pounding teams so Mo's job is pretty cushy right now. What that 1.80 ERA says is when he does have to work, it's LIGHTS OUT!
P.S.- Some nerve, complaining about Mo when "Get Diced K" just lost his second game in a row. He had a complete meltdown one inning. He's the one you should be worried about. Against the Blue Jays and he has a panic attack on the mound? Yankees in his next start? This is gonna get UGLY!!!!
P.P.S.- Papelbon had SIX, count em SIX blown saves last year and only 35 saves in total.

I LOVE how red sox fans love to talk so much shit so early...you ever see yankee fans bragging about the yankees being in first place in April? The yankees have had horrible luck with injuries this month. Pretty much all their pitchers are falling apart and they're STILL competitive. Hell as I remember it, the red sox had to come from behind in a good portion of those games, and even when they won they didn't win by a landslide.
Do you guys even understand what that means??? That the yankees can have NO pitching and still barely lose? Do you honestly think things are going to stay the same for the rest of the season? Take a look at the score of today's game and you'll have an idea of what's going to go on once the pitching is at least somewhat healthy again.

Greedy knows his shit. The Rocket is a 3-4 pitcher in the rotation at best. He hasn't pitched in the American League in a number of years either. Hughes looked good but he's out indefintely. Bottom line Boston has the best record in the AL and I was at the game in the Bronx two weekends ago and the Yankees fan base have lost their edge.
