I started with a regular, cheap quadcopter. Then moved onto FPV quads and eventually racing them (I am not that good, but it is still fun).
Aerial drones are great if you travel to interesting locations or have mountains nearby or cool buildings like towers or old bridges (that are defunct).
The one big downside if the cost of the hobby, started with r/c cars and boats when I was younger. Over the years the parts, the trips, cameras and the time all add up...
I think the most interesting content going forward will be quadcopters that follow you while snowboarding, driving or doing another sport/skill. They may enhance the quality of the videos and showcase peoples' skills and hobbies from an almost cinematic viewpoint.
We had one but destroyed it by accident. Were using to shoot some of our video ads, etc..
You need a license to do that now at my city. At the brokerage house I interned at I think we paid some company $5k to fly around an apartment building for a few minutes and layer some inspirational music on top of the video. Its ridiculous.
Makes sense. We were just bored and trying to hit it with bottle rockets because I'm actually 13.
