Does Personal Growth come with Personal Training
Hey everybody, new time poster here. I love the content. I've been trying to do some personal growth and. The past severely years this has hampered my ability to hold a job long-term. Recently, I've been getting into fitness and I was thinking that personal training could be a cool career for me to start. I was wondering if any of you guys have experience. Exercise has definitely been one of the most therapeutic things for helping my personal growth. I would love any help from you guys regarding this topic. Thank you!
There are a lot of entry points for a personal trainer. You can work for a gym, can work for a company, or do it by yourself.
You could essentially start today on your own and post on Craigslist your rates and background or you could get certified by various places and likely work at a gym.

This is a step I feel really scared about and would like to get it right. I guess my question is what do I need to show when looking for work in a gym or company.

IMO I think the market is saturated with PTs. and what would your edge be? for example, when I seen Dorian Yates (6x Mr Olympia) offers personal training for £100 for an hours session, i'm thinking he's probably seeing at a maximum 5 clients a day - i.e. 6x Mr Olympia isn't exactly breaking the bank. I did see him in Marbella now though, doing yoga and smoking weed - so maybe he did make some cash from that.
of the four guys I know that achieved PT qualifications (think its around £3k for the certificate here), one tried to run fitness classes in a park - was a big fail and he ended up becoming a crane operator, another - one of my good mates went out to Australia to PT, now he's in tech recruiting (also in Oz), another done well in physique comps for the past 10 years - worked a local meathead gym, then begged me to get him a job in finance - I had to sort out his resume, and I think he ended up working temp operations contracts. the fourth guy, hyper fit rather than bodybuilding, he tried opening his own gym, failed, but does run fitness classes outside and is a PT at a local private swimming club (which is great because its hard to get a membership and he can sign me in, great networking space) - not sure he generates a lot of cash from this and the career does have a shelf life. but anyway, all of that may be down to business acumen and appreciate you're not specifically asking about the financial rewards, I'm just highlighting a lot of people go this route because IT IS indeed enjoyable/therapeutic/satisfying - that's not so good for someone looking to get in. and there are the 1000's of PTs that do online 1-2-1 training - proper fitness gurus with the physique to match - they can offer the most credible advice at the most reasonable price.
Thank you for responding. You do have great insights when it comes to personal training. would you recommend doing it part-time and look for another way to make ends meet. Also how about doing a combined business of both online training and onsite?
why don't you save up some cash and open a franchise gym? combine the passion with freedom of being a business owner and generating cash (in theory).
There is also the social media side of personal training. If you get enough subscribers, you can get your income through social media. This is a combination of aesthetics and advice.
I have thought about social media but I am too green when it comes to promoting. would you recommend I hire a professional in that field?
