Based on the most helpful WSO content, there isn't a direct mention of e-ink or electronic notepads specifically. However, there is a recommendation for using Evernote as a centralized platform for note-taking. It highlights the efficiency of having all notes aggregated in one software, making it easier to search and organize information. This could be a digital alternative to traditional note-taking methods, though it doesn't specifically address e-ink devices.

If you're exploring AI-enabled options for note-taking, it might align with the broader trend of integrating technology into workflows, as seen in discussions about tools like GPT-4 and Microsoft Co-Pilot. These advancements suggest a growing interest in tech solutions that enhance productivity, which could extend to AI-enabled e-ink devices.

I have the Onyx Boox Note Air 5c and find it pretty useful for marking up PDFs, reading Substack, and occasionally taking notes. Haven't used any AI features but it has Android software so I imagine I could download some app.

I got E-ink because i like my Kindle and wanted it to be easier on the eyes, and I also have trouble note-taking and reading long PDFs on my laptop. However I think E-Ink is not yet a mature technology and these tablets have some issues compared to LCDs like iPads:

  • they are very expensive relative to their limited capabilities
  • there is a lot of lag, and there can be ghosting issues
  • color e-ink looks pretty washed out and dark, requiring you to keep the brightness on high, which lowers the battery life

Unless you really really want E-ink (which is fair for someone in finance who probably spends too much time staring at screens), I would recommend an iPad or Galaxy tablet.
