East Coast vs West Coast (US) Living

Trying to decide on which b school offer to accept and so thinking ahead to which part of the country would be better living in post mba. I’m not American and have never lived in the USA so I’m trying to do as much homework online as I can on this but I’d be so grateful for people’s thoughts here. Weather apart, what is the quality of life comparison like between living near San Francisco and say Boston post mba? I understand California is more expensive but is cost of living significantly different between the two? With the lower state tax in Massachusetts I imagine you’d end up saving more money per annum? Does your money go further on the East coast i.e would you be able to afford a bigger house etc near Boston than say near San Jose/ San Francisco for the same amount of money? I couldn’t spot a material difference in salaries between the coasts for the same industry but I could be wrong. What’s your opinion?

As someone who grew up in NYC and current lives in LA, the lifestyle differences between east coast/west coast are massive. Most of the finance heavy east coast states (Mass, NY) have pretty high texas. If you are concerned about a house and maximizing earnings, Seattle, Texas, Florida where there are no state income taxes will give you the most bang for your buck.

1) aren't taxes high in CA too

2) even without state income taxes, isn't real estate in Seattle borderline unlivable for purchasing

true. Do LA or other cities in the SoCal metro area have an additional city tax?
