Eddie Van Halen Dead

First Neil Peart, now Eddie Van Halen- 2020 just keeps getting worse. Arguably the greatest guitarist ever and founder of one of the most popular rock bands of all time. Let's hear some of your Van Halen memories or even just favorite song in general.

I have not listened to Van Halen in a long time but I remember doing some type of cherokee performance with my fake band and I think the songs were either Jump or Panama.

Neil Peart and Eddie in the same year...wow

The important thing is never to let oneself be guided by the opinion of one's contemporaries; to continue steadfastly on one's way without letting oneself be either defeated by failure or diverted by applause.

I was going to write a long, long post on this - but I'll keep it short:

He was one of the most transformational guitar heroes in the history, who paved way for new music styles, as well as guitar gear.

I've listened to him play for decades - ever since I started playing myself, listening to VH1 on LP which I borrowed from a buddy. It's been on-off for the past years, but his playing and style is basically comfort food for guitarists. He gets a lot of credit for his leads, but truth is, his overall style is very dynamic and just sounds "right". He was a tremendous rhythm player, and mastered the art of combining rhythm and lead, in a tight and fluid, yet loose sounding way.

It's been a rough year, as both him and Neil Peart were in my top 5 musicians list of all time. I grew up on Van Halen and Rush, and still listen to 'em from time to time. I had hopes for seeing them one last time, if for nothing else than the nostalgic trip, but all good things (must) come to an end.
