To all those with an epic ski pass. Which resorts are your favorites to go to. Just got an epic pass for next year and this will be my first year owning it.

Whistler is a cool destination, went to vail, breck, keystone and pc this year. Vail and Breck were cool destinations. Just a pain because 2:30 mins on I-70 could be backed the fuck up and take 5 hrs. Would recommend staying in the town of breck as it is the largest city in the mountains.
I would avoid Breck at all costs unless you like 45 minute lift lines and absurd traffic getting around town/to and from Denver.
I haven’t had a bad experience there in 2 trips to colorado of going there maybe 7 days. Definitely don’t recommend going to there on holiday weekends or holidays in general but thats almost everywhere on epic.
Also PC is just as bad and is one of the worst mountains in utah.
Good recs, Telluride, Whistler, kicking horse and crested butte. Also depends on your skill level.
I had about 20 bad experiences there when I lived in Denver and kept getting dragged there on weekends with friends. Never again.
Yeah, PC is brutal too. You are just naming the busiest mountains in the world at this point.
#1 Breck
#2 PC
#3 Vail
#4 Keystone
Crested Butte is getting just as bad as Breck, unfortunately.
You hit the nail on the head - everyone on Epic is crowded and that is why the Epic pass is trash. If skiing is actually what you're after there are countless places out there that are much better than anything on Epic.
Vail usually isn't too crowded when everything is open, its pretty easy to avoid lines if you know what you are doing. Basically all the chair are 6 seaters now so lines move pretty quick. That said, the mountain hasn't been fully open until like mid january so its a clusterfuck until then. Keystone is underrated. I found Breckenridge to be crowded and a bit of pain to get around quickly.
"if you know what you're doing"... I guess your annual trip out here puts you in that category?
The best way to avoid lines at Vail is to line up for first chair and follow the sequence chair 8 -> 2 -> 7 -> 5 -> 9 and so on as you work east across the back bowls. If you do that you will be catching those chairs as they open for the day. Get lucky and you might get down to the base of 36 at the right time to catch Blue Sky opening. The issue though is that everyone else is going to find their way there eventually and you're going to be fucked so that plan really only lasts until 11 or so. Mongolia usually doesn't get too bad as long as it's open but that is always questionable.
The other option is to stay on the front side and lap 11 and 4 since the cliff drops/bumps underneath those are great but the crowds will show up there eventually too as everyone works their way over from the base.
I skied Vail A LOT two years ago when I lived in Silverthorne with a buddy that was an instructor there and pretending there are ways around the mountain that will free you from all crowds is foolish. We tried every sequence out there multiple times and the truth is that on weekends you are going to find crowds. The only way to really get away from the crowds there is to hike east Vail and do bc laps but considering that is a death wish if you don't know what you're doing I don't think that should be advised.
If you want a really cheap and fun vacation Creste butte in Colorado is a great city to visit - amazing skiing - $2.50 beer in town all day - great bus system that runs to 2:30 in the morning. - can get lodging for like $100 bucks a night.
My picks: Park City, Telluride and Heavenly are my favs. In Canada, Whistler and Kicking Horse (RCR).
International: Nagano (Japan) and Verbier (Swiss)
Vail has something for everyone given how big it is, good for all skiers.
Beaver is good if looking for steeper terrian and probably has more challenging runs (proportionally).
I've never been a big fan of Breckenridge, good for the occasional day trip. I haven't been to Park City but heard it's fantastic, might be bigger than Vail.
Whistler in Canada is also solid.
I’ve always preferred the mountains on the Ikon Pass more. Park City, Vail, Breckinridge are just so busy that I’ve stopped double dipping in the passes and just get the Ikon now. Mammoth and Alta/Snowbird are my favorite places so far, and Ikon has much better options for when I go back home and ski in VT and ME.
Jealous
The most difficult terrain generally doesn’t have long lift lines. T bar at Breck gets backed up, although great entertainment while you wait, but there’s plenty of other peaks.
