I'm taking a 2 week trip through Germany, my flight there and my room are already paid for, how much should I plan to spend daily on food/local travel?
I would like to drink heavily the whole time and eat out a good amount, would $50/day be enough? Thanks in advance for the advice. Also any recommendations for places to visit within Germany are welcome.

What's your definition of drinking heavily? Unless you plan on packing a bunch of malt liquor into a back pack, expect to spend at least $100 USD per day at the bars.
I actually was planning on doing a little of that. I understand that drinking exclusively at bars would get expensive, just curious how much I should plan on for general drinking, eating and fun having per day. More than the states in real terms?
Was just there. Germany is pretty cheap (compared to rest of Europe..the prices are kind of eastern European). Take up a few free walking tours (tip whatever you want). But maybe aim a little bit higher in budget just in case but without accommodation $50 will be enough. Since you can get half a litre of beer for 3 euros.
And much less than the states for sure. I was in the states recently as well.
Expenditure largely depends on the cities you are staying. Bigger cities such as Munich etc. would be more expensive, with Berlin being somewhat of an exception.
Buffet breakfast as offered in some restaurants comes in at about 12 Euro, for lunch at a normal restaurant expect to pay something from 15 to 25 Euro, and similar for dinner.
At beer gardens you will get a beer for something between 3 to 5 Euro for half a liter, while drinks at bars and clubs start at about 6 Euro and depending on what you order may get as high as 12 Euro. Don't really remember bottle prices right now. Of course there are also cheaper/pricier places so adjust prices downward/upward accordingly.

$50 won't be enough given your specifications. agreed that if you buy lots of drinks and eat out all the time, $80 - 100 sounds reasonable. Munich was more expensive relatively... my friend and i had dinner at a very nice restaurant, and it came to about $120/person, granted it was xmas
alcohol in stores is dirt cheap. You get a bottle of for example bacardi, russian standard, johny walker etc. for under 15 euro. Beers are a little less than 1 Euro per half litre bottle.
In bars and clubs, beer is usually pretty cheap (not more than 3 euro/half litre) while long drinks and cocktails are rather expensive (~6-15 Euro depending on the city)
lunch and dinner is usually around 15-25 Euro as KingEastwood said, but you can always get cheaper food at Kebab places or if you eat pizza.
Expect to spend a lot less on tips than in the US. 1-2 Euro is considered perfectly fine.
In general, if you go to Berlin 50 Euro/day will be enough, in Munich/Hamburg you should expect to spend more.

$50 simply won't cut it unless you want to live off McD's and kebab kiosks. If you want to eat at quality restaurants, expect to spent about 50 Euros just on the food (30 typically for a simple 3 course). The drinks will be another 20 or so on top. Plus transport and/or sightseeing, I'd say 120 (USD not EUR) just to overestimate.
Germans like quality not quantity, so good food and restaurants aren't hard to find. Keep in mind that on Sundays most things are shut (the whole day). Given current events I'd hold onto your USDs a little longer.
In essence it comes down to: Do you want to feel European ($120) or go American ($50)?
Depends where you go. In big cities, expect to spend a more. Beer factory tours are nice if you can get it. Too bad you missed Oktoberfest.
$50 is too low. Target $100-$140 if you want to drink and eat out.
What about transport (metro, taxi)? Taxis can get really expensive. Beware of unlicensed taxis. Also keep an eye on what time the metro closes for your line back to the hotel.
Thanks everyone for the advice, sounds like I should plan on about $100 per day then not including transportation if I plan to have a good time. Money really isn't a huge concern, I'd rather have fun while I'm there than worry about not spending too much the whole time. As long as I'm in Germany I want to do it big.
