Evolutionary Biology - High Finance
Hi all,
I was always interested in evolutionary biology as a good explanatory model for a lot of behaviors we see today (ex.: Men are more statistically likely to be attracted to women with big breasts or waist as it indicates higher fertility capacity and ability to nurture babies).
I was wondering, from an evolutionary biology perspective, why do you think high finance is a well remunerated job? Does it makes us more likely to pass our genes to future generations and therefore commands higher economic incentives?
Happy to hear your thoughts.
I think it's very clunky to ask why from an evolutionary biology standpoint why finance pays well. The labor market just doesn't operate on that level it seems to me.
Perhaps you could say - why from an ev bio perspective are certain TYPES of people drawn to finance, but that again seems pretty clunky to me.
It's more that evolutionarily, those with resources tended to fair better reproductively. Finance provides resources, and a status indicator of future resources, meaning evolutionarily it would indicate that this person would be a good provider.
As for why it exists to provide higher resources, that's more economic than evolutionary
