So when you source deals, you have to go out to find clients and make a pitch right? For example, debt origination.

And execution is like doing due dilligence, filing the paperwork and etc?

 

so within PE, if you're working solely in deal origination as an analyst/associate intern how much of a skill set would you be getting thats highly transferable to IB?

I work in an IB firm and this is how we do it.

Origination: sourcing deals. this is mainly done by your Associate (Managers), Seniors, CEO, Directors.

Execution: number crunching + documentation. this is where Analysts are needed. We do the full valuation model (from scratch of course!), pitch materials, filing, Due Diligence, etc.
