Expereinces changing jobs while moving HCOL to LCOL city?

I've seen posts on here about moving from HCOL to LCOL cities and the pros, cons, of living expenses vs income, of culture vs space, etc etc

I'm interested in people's experiences in changing jobs when moving HCOL to LCOL. Other than just change in salary - did you have to change the types of roles you looked for? Compromise and do less interesting work? Change industries? What were the pros and cons of the actual roles?

On the other hand - any new opportunities crop up from being in a smaller pond? Any chance to level up into something more senior or more interesting?
