Familiarizing myself with the market
I'm entering university as a student who is aspiring for IB. I haven't really ever been involved in anything finance related though and I'm just starting to enter this "world". I would ideally want to join some type of "stock" club at my university, but I know that these clubs require sufficient market knowledge. I have also read that some modeling experience and a solid opinion/outlook on the market is a good way to land an internship (reall any kind of finance internship) after freshman year for the summer. Besides reading newsletters, learning excel, and paying attention to my first year classes, what else can I do to familiarize myself with finance?
Maybe start with some reading on your own, something like “The intelligent investor” is a good start. Obviously be sure you are also keeping up to date on the news, the motley fool podcast is also a good place to start as you start to figure things out.
