FDA set to remove Juul from the market
What’re your thoughts on this? The FDA will most likely announce the ban on Juul products within the near future. I am against this - who is to decide what can and cannot be sold in a free market?

Fuck the FDA. I don't even smoke e-cigs and I think this is bs.
At face value, it doesn't seem fair because there are dozens of products that do the exact same thing. But Juul's key strategy was to market to kids and that's how they were so successful so fast. Smoking was dying out among kids/teens/young adults and they brought it back to life.
I see this move essentially as punishment for that strategy. Even as a raging capitalist, I'm ok with it.
Extremely based FDA
I love it when I see people making jokes about how prevalent cigarettes were in the 40s/50s and how stupid people must have been back then to buy into the marketing when that exactly happened with vapes and e-cigarettes to this generation
Not so smart after all
The FDA, and for good reason.
I absolutely despise vaping and I despise juul for spreading vaping like crazy throughout my generation and the gen below me for that matter. But at this point, the cat is out of the bag and I don’t see how this helps. Juul isn’t even popular these days from what I’ve seen
This is a decision that is based in establishing the FDA as having true authority over e-cigs, originally when vapes came onto the scene it was a 'workaround' as the FDA didn't have unilateral authority to make or break them - that changed a few years ago as I recall. Juul flew too close to the sun - irreverently marketing to kids, flavors and continuously working to get around or simply ignoring regulators. They forgot the cardinal rule of living in a regulated industry - don't piss off the regulators. As I understand it Juul re-applied with only the base flavors, limited nicotine levels (3-5%), etc. in line with the other approved competitors that are out there. From a product perspective there isn't much difference that I know of.
I had read somewhere that Juul trails it's competitors among teen vaping now after they did away with the flavors - by a few percentage points, so a meaningful difference. They are the big, catchy name that became synonymous with vaping - and paid the price for it as it appears.
On a tangent, I love weed but hate how smoking in public is tolerated in major cities
This is good imo. Vaping in general looks so dumb, at the very least smoking cigarettes and cigars looks cool. Don't even care for the deal with people's health, just think anyone that vapes is an idiot.
