Finally got offer at BB IB but wife doesn't want me to move. What should I do?

Hi everyone,

After a year of networking, interview prep, and sleepless nights, I finally got an offer at a BB IB. This has been a dream of mine ever since I found out about finance. I can't thank this forum enough for all the help it's given me thus far.

Problem is, my wife isn't as excited as I am. I've been living with her for about one year now in a LCOL city. I told her about the offer and how excited I was, but she said she can't move to NY with me because she can't imagine leaving her paramour. I've never met the guy in person, but based on how she talks about him it's clear that she likes him a lot and I can't possibly imagine taking that away from her. I called the guy and offered to pay him a part of my monthly salary to cover his living costs so he can move to NYC with us, but he said I wasn't making enough to fund his lifestyle. I said it's okay because I'll bump his payments when I get promoted, but he's still not budging. I'm torn right now. What should I do? Offer him more money? Look for similar jobs at regional boutiques? I'm so excited to pursue the career of my dreams, but I don't want to disappoint my wife either. Someone please help.

No, it's not. We're in totally different situations. That guy is already in IB and wants to move to a lower cost of living city to save some money. I want to move to a higher cost of living city for career reasons. His dilemma doesn't involve a third party. Mine does.
