If you want some of the more "classic" (read: 1980s) items, have a read of Bret Easton Ellis' "American Psycho". Sure, it may be bordering on the satirical, but you'll find all the stereotypical fixtures:

  • 1980's Wall Street (namely, M&A)
  • Prostitutes
  • Cocaine
  • Hermes ties
  • Ferragamo loafers
  • Brooks Brothers shirts
  • Rolex watches
  • Double-breasted, blue pinstripe suits

In terms of sayings, "Is he gonna run me over?" comes to mind...

"Work is the curse of the drinking classes" - Oscar Wilde

Sorry, the saying isn't from American Psycho - is a phrase you'll hear fretful market-makers say when someone on the buyside asks for their bid / offer in size (often to the sales-trader).

It's dated, but I have this blown up as a framed poster in my apartment.
