I am searching for a car and want to hear some suggestions from you guys.
I am looking for something sub $20,000 (pref $200-$300 monthly pmt). I love the luxury BMW 3 Series, Audi A4s, Lexus, etc but that may be out of my price range here. I also love the Ford Fusion Hybrids, but again price range.
Anyone have a suggestion on a car sub $20K or have one for sale? Any car companies having specials out there? I am a bigger man, so probably no coupes, more likely a sedan or SUV.
How about a used 3 series?
Unless you're getting some sort of tax advantage by leasing a car, you really shouldn't be making monthly payments. If you can't afford to buy it upfront, get a cheaper car...
Just started working, I need something to get to work as my city has little public transportation and I have just enough for a down payment (unless I buy a car for $5K and want to look forward to breaking down and paying for repairs all the time). I do not have parents who are willing to buy me a car so I dont have to make payments.
Need something reliable, pref under warranty, and if used pref it is certified and under 60K miles.
I bought a Kia minivan on eBay for $5,600 and it had 10,000 miles left on the warranty. The thing runs great and I'm still driving it 4 years later. Don't waste your money on vehicle financing.

You can get a new sonata for under 20K or a few year old azera.

You can't be serious recommending a 9 year old BMW with 92k miles.
Trust me, I went that route in college and bought a 2000 BMW w/ 80k miles (this was in 2007). When 100k miles hit, shit hit the fan and I dropped 5-10k on repairs. It was an absolute joy to drive, but by the time I wanted a new car, my 2000 BMW wasn't worth hardly anything due to major parts needing to be replaced & the fact that they depreciate pretty fast compared to economic alternatives.
The only time you should be buying older luxury cars is when you have a job that can support your hobby.
If you're trying to stay within the $300 price range, I would look at the Hyundai Sonata & Nissan Altima. The Sonata's new look is actually pretty sexy & Hyundais are great cars. You can never really go wrong with an Altima.. I bought a 2010 last year & I have been happy with it. I got the SL package (Leather & Bose) for 315/month lease.
You don't have to buy new either.. you can always go back a year or two. But I wouldn't recommend a used luxury car by any means.

You guys make me so jealous... Here in Brazil a new Sonata costs USD 58k due to stupid taxes, capital cost and incredible profit margins for the car companies. For USD 20k this is what you get here -> http://static.blogo.it/carangoblog/fordka.jpg.jpg and it doesn't even have airbags.
My mom has a new Sonata and really likes it. It is by no means a BMW or an Audi, but it sounds like you may be better off waiting a few years for those brands anyways.
I think the new Sonata is under $20k, gets like 36mpg and rides decent. Not my cup of tea, but definitely a decent bargain.
The popular choice for people in your spot is usually the Accord.

why do you need to get a bmw, if you are only willing to spend only 20k on a car you do not have enough for a bmw
No, I dont need a BMW or Audi.. just like those cars, as well as the Hybrids. I know that those are out of my range. Looking for anything decent, decent mileage, under warranty, and not a coupe.

Get a brand spanking new Honda Civic, decently equipped, for under $20k. Nobody's impressed by a used 3-series so forget the price factor at that price range.
Get the BMW.
Don't believe anyone unless they've owned one - BMW's, Audi's and the like are awesome cars that you don't appreciate until you drive them. The comfort, features and performance are all worth it.
Don't believe the "horror stories" of people needing to fix the cars. Parts are expensive if you go to a rip-off shop, don't have a warranty, or do any other kind of stupidity in terms of car ownership.
My car experience: owned a Dodge Caravan, Toyota Scion TC '08, currently own a '03 BMW 3 series. Sometimes drive my mom's '10 Toyota Camry 6-liter, driven my father's '07 Sequoia, on occasion my roommates' '07 Nissan Maxima, and '08 Honda Civic.
THE BMW BEATS THEM ALL, and it's way older. Get a newer one for under $20k, you won't regret it.

Don't buy new Mcnameo, it is automatically going to devalue substantially when you drive off the lot. If your worried about being taken care of with warranty on the car buy a pre-owned certified from one of the major manufacturers.

find a 2007 or 2008 328 sedan. i see one on cars.com for 18,877 with 36k miles. and its 2008 so still under warranty for another 6 months or so.
You can find a nicely equipped monster truck with 150k-200k miles on it for under USD $105k if you look hard enough. Add a new air intake or seven and you can get a nice 2mpg on the highway. They really are great cars.
