FinMath UChicago vs. CompFin UCL vs. Stats Imperial?
I have offers to do masters degrees at
- UChicago, Financial Mathematics
- UCL, Computational Finance
- Imperial, Statistics (Finance)
- Georgia Tech, Computational Finance
Does anyone have any thoughts or comparisons of the different degrees? I have experience at 2 trading companies (semi-prop shop/asset manager) as a trader/quant. I have no interest is IB, want to work at either a prop shop or HF.
My current ranking is Chicago > Imperial > UCL > GTech. Thoughts?
Chicago and Imperial are going to be by far your best options, and have similar outcomes and reputations in their regions and globally, although would maybe say FinMath is a stronger course/perceived as more rigorous than Stats? Would make your decision based on where you want to be really, and noting that it’s probably harder to go UK > US than US > UK.
