Mark Ruffalo is an actor. I believe he was in the movie Zodiac, and a few others. You are wrong dear Edmundo, he didn't make the film, he just organized a mass screening of it.
That would be the day he gets put on a terrorist watch list. That is just comical and ignorant to believe that he poses a threat to the United States. Perhaps a threat to the government because he is a free thinker and is waiting to expose the truth about the war/911

Interesting how 30 years ago, nuclear advocates were focused on cost and the anti-nuclear industry was focused on safety. Today, the argument is the other way around- opponents focus on cost, advocates focus on safety.
The problem with nuclear under the original system was that you had to spend 2-3 years getting approval to start constructing the plant, 4 years (and a billion dollars) to build it and then another 1-2 years getting approval to turn it on. The anti-nuclear industry later managed to stretch that last part from 1-2 years to 6-10.
The anti-nuclear industry's goal was always to make it as EXPENSIVE as possible to start the reactor. By lengthening the time period that the utility has to pay interest on the plant before it can start generating electricity, they managed to double or triple the economic cost of starting a nuclear reactor. Now it is ironic that they focus so heavily on the cost.
Agree it's pretty scary about Mark Ruffalo. Would be interesting to see the charges against him...

Gasland is like doing a documentary on the airline industry and showing nothing but crashes.
And that guy's voice makes me want to lose my hearing.
I actually just finished it myself. Granted it may not be the most unbiased documentary out there... i think it does bring to light the regulatory issues at hand (or lack there of). Sure its showing the miscues over the successes, but at the same time you cannot blame people for wanting to hear about it. Its the miscues that create the massive negative effects, some of which we will never fully understand due to lack of sample size/long term research.
Can fracking be a "game-changer" sure... but a lot can be said for Chesapeake and the like not wanting to fall under the same rules of basic acts.
Have them fall under the Acts listed, fix the "light my tap-water on fire" issue, and stop making people sick and I doubt anyone besides tree-huggers will have an issue with it.
Lastly, dont underestimate the fact that we (a solid portion of this site) are from privileged areas, outside of the effected areas. The new yorks, the chicagos, the LA's the Bostons, the other "hubs" arent in the "red-zones" as of right now and are not seeing the evidence first hand.

Agree with above. I have zero issue with fracking, as long as it has to follow normal regulations and safety is the number one priority.

If I was NRG or Excelon, I would be using Gas Land as the biggest PR piece to push for nuclear energy.
