George Clooney's Accidental Tequila Company To Sell at $1 BIllion

A friend sent me this article by Bussiness Insider and captioned it "I wish my mistakes were worth this much". To give a brief but informative summary of what I'm referring to, Rande Gerber (Clooney's friend and co-founder of Casamigos) said that;

"Casamigos really started by accident as far as a company," Gerber told Business Insider in an interview in March. "As you do in Mexico, we would drink a lot of tequila. We'd go out to bars and restaurants and bartenders would recommend them. Some were good, some not so good, and some expensive. There came a point where George turned to me and said, 'Why don't we create one that's perfect for us?'" he said.

The article goes on by saying they visited 700 distilleries to find the perfect recipe. This was all just for their own consumption. It was only when they tried to bring 1000 bottles into the UK, where they were told the drink had to be licensed.

The price of a 750ml bottle ranges from** $45-55**. It's now being sold to Diageo for a cool **$1 Billion dollars **

The fact that this happens, makes me want to go out and find the perfect recipe for one of my favorite drinks/food. What do you think about this? Also have you ever tried Clooney's tequila brand "Casamigos"?

That's how a lot of great businesses happen. Many companies are average and you find an extraordinary product that you can produce for the same or lower price!

As for his tequila....I will let you know after nine tonight, haha!

Its more like $700 million with performance based payouts on the last $300m over 10 years if I remember correctly.

However, I'm cordial with a few of the original investors and their return profile looks fantastic as they were raising money for it at some absurdly low valuation when they first started out with it.
