No shit? So I guess I hope they put you on a paratrooper plane and give you the prestigious job of pushing the green button to lower the ramp so the real soldiers can jump out of it.

What a legend of doing cool shit! You are going to be living the dream with your military lifestyle and Ducati, Pussy Galore! Working in finance is SO dull, using your brain and making money and all.

I'm glad cooler heads prevailed and you didn't quit your job to hang out with migrant workers in Tijuana or try to get a job driving a tractor trailer. Those would've been bad decisions so Kudos!

Not gonna disagree with your tone or that of the board in general, but grunts probably use their brains more than finance worker bees. Might not have as much gray matter upstairs on average, but...

I wonder how much tinder action you're going to get in Killeen Texas. Provided you are even allowed off base, pussy and "doing cool shit" aren't government issue.

From a military site: "I wont lie to you Infantry life is not that great, if you are already signed up for it just make sure you choose nice locations on your deployment wish list. I was stationed in Korea and Texas. All of my infantry buddies who went to Europe loved it. Germany and Italy are probably the two best places we can go, since there are no Army Infantry in Japan. You would think we would have a lot of down time when we are not fighting, that is way wrong. They will find stuff for you to do. We worked longer and trained much harder than every other job I came accross while enlisted. It all depends on your location and leadership placed above you as to your quality of life.

A typical day is doing pt from about 0600 till 0700 or 0730, go to the barracks to SSS(****,shower, shave) and eat breakfast at the chow hall. Be at second formation to start working by 0900, work for Infantry varies from day to day. You could be sweeping barracks hallways and sidewalks or be on motor pool detail(cleaning/maintaining vehicles, sweeping, or something that gets you very dirty). Then lunch around 1130-1230(30 min lunches if training, possible over an hour lunches when nothing to do). After lunch you could be doing the forementioned for the rest of the day or you could be out at the shooting range/field training. Every Thursday after lunch my SSG used to take us on a 7-10 mile road march so we would not fail or fall out on the EIB basic quals or company road marches. If you are lucky(have good leaders) you will be off around 1600-1800. If you are unlucky, like my company in Korea was, you will be off at different times every night ranging from 1800-2100.

Good luck in the Army. If you still have time to change jobs, look into something that will get you a top secret clearance."

Sounds like you'll have a lot of freedom for "doing cool shit"

Well, I'm going to call Shenanigans on this. Assuming for a minute that you've passed Basic Infantry, Basic Rifleman, have a CWS-1, a high enough GT, passed selection, completed the interview and psych eval, and have already finished MART, which I highly doubt given the fact that MART is a cross-qualifer, you still need to get through BRC. Your story doesn't add up. But... best of luck to you in faking the funk, no matter what you do.

@"TNA", yes - can we please get this thing banned?

Why are you the most active user on these forums if you hate Finance so much? Anyway good luck with your endeavors, I enjoyed your some of your posts.

i guess some of the hatred you're receiving is well deserved, but most of your posts were enjoyable and managed to kill most of the work day for me. Good luck.

You don't need to be a Marine to get into BRC. Recon's a crossqualified course. Unlike something like Basic Infantry or Rifleman's school, Recon Marines (be it regular Recon or Force Recon) don't have their own school, so all 3 branches cross qualify under one course - the BRC. The Marines are too small to justify a full school dedicated to Recon and the Navy recon (between the Hospital Corpsmen, SEALs, etc.) also need a program that the Army gets to tag along for, so to speak. There's also Army Recon, which is a US Army - Armory Division course and the RSLC, which is Long Range Recon and happens to be a crossqualified course. It just so happens that Basic Recon, while now at MCB Pendleton was ran from NWS Coronado out in San Diego County because of the fact that both MCB Pendleton and NWS Coronado (along with the ARS at Fort Stony/NAB Little Creek before that) because of the ability to make sure that the bulk of the skills needed in Recon are covered.

Is Goldie gonna keep referring to himself in the 3rd person after the banhammer has smashed Goldie to pieces?

@"adapt or die" : Good point. Also might have to put that jet ski Mississippi River trip on hold too.
