I've had the Bose QC-35s for years and love them. I got the Airpod Maxes as a gift but I think I like the Bose's more. The Airpod Maxes may have a slightly better sound, but the Bose's are much more comfortable.
I've been using xm4's for the gym and travelling for a long time now. Good sound cancelling, great battery life, they can fold up into a small case. I've found them comfy. Can recommend.
I use the Bose NC 700's, very comfortable, loud enough to drown everything out
Check out the Warwick Acoustics Aperio Headphones. They are a little pricey, but worth it. They are mainly used for studio work, but if you're going to jam out at your desk, these are the headphones to get. The Aperio reference headphone system delivers the highest level of audio performance achievable, with proprietary electrostatic tech. Downside - they are wired and not portable and require an amplifier. But, if you're looking for acoustic excellence (and absolute headphone CRANKING), these are the ones to get.
