I fucking love football, and this would be my dream too.

In line with what's happening in the top leagues, there has been an influx of Americans, PE/HFs and generally non-football business types going into the lower leagues. The difference being a distinct gap in the kind of dedication and investment you'd see from say a Roman/Chelsea, Abu Dhabi/Man City or PSG/Qatar. There's lots of "shady" shit centered around real estate that puts these already strained clubs in precarious positions. See Bury FC and Macclesfield as examples.

The context is important because hypothetically you could probably buy a lower league club out of administration or under financial strain. I think Macclesfield went under on a few hundred thousand pounds in debt. The question is would you want to? These are clubs that require a lot of investment to restore and maintain. Out of pure passion I say yes, out of financial sense I say no, fuck that.

Edit: Came back to this to add a more positive note. I know someone who is a part owner of a League Two team and they never miss a game. The quality of football is obv lower, but the festivities, the atmosphere around the stadium and the passion of the fans I'm told is basically next level.

Frosinone Calcio, the team from the village my family left in the late 1950s, was the worst club in Serie A for a while. My family and I make fun of it on a regular basis. I wouldn't say it's the cheapest club you can buy, but I'm not saying it's Real Madrid either.

“Strive for perfection in everything you do. Take the best that exists and make it better. When it does not exist, design it.” -- Sir Frederick Henry Royce, 1st Baronet, Co-Founder of Rolls-Royce Limited.

Without giving much away, the football club in my hometown is literally what you want. Legendary past, fell from grace in the 70s, kept alive by a fierce fan culture and extremely solid roots in our city. You could probably buy the whole package for like €20-50m. Sell it well to the fans and you got yourself a legend reborn. DM me for the club.
