Herm Edwards on Wall Street
Mod note: Blast from the Past - "Best of Eddie." This was originally posted in September 2011.
Holy smoke. This is incredible. Former NFL player and coach, and current NFL commentator Herm Edwards delivered this address to this year's crop of NFL rookies on June 29, and over 90% of it applies to people starting out on Wall Street. This is one of those amazing speeches given by a coach, like John Wooden used to do, that will stand the test of time. Stop whatever you're doing and watch these videos, and take notes (especially about the rented jersey and the Rule of One). You'll be glad you did:
You gotta love how old school he is, too. I love that he's rockin' the overhead projector instead of a flashy PowerPoint.
It's going to be a good day, thanks man!!
I love it...makes me want to strap up. Click Clack!
Got to love the ESPN theme impression he does!
That was awesome.
I love the Rule of One (1st video starting at about 12:50). Probably the key to enjoying lifelong prosperity.
Herm, I'm changing my life because of you. Time to retire the Mr T premium set...
That was a weapon of mass motivation right there, thanks Edie. Too bad most of us prospective monkeys will never see this.
'Get one type of jewelry, you don't need the Mr. T starter set." Truer words have never been said.
I could have sworn I saw a mountain in my way before i watched this. That Mr T line was awesome. I'll be stealing that :D
I'll do the one of everything but I still need 7 computer monitors.
God bless y'all and thank ya
Great post, definitely some good perspective.
If its 12 aclock and she isn't smiling back its time to go
Herm is awesome ha, great advice/insights for any career.
On point. Herm is a boss
Based on the title, I thought he actually went to finance lol
Wow ancient thread.
Great stuff though! Not quite sure where the rented jersey applies to Wall Street. Group is more important than anyone in it? Firm's reputation must be watched? That's my favourite part of the speech, just not sure how it's related.
Really enjoyed that. Thanks Eddie.
