Herm Edwards on Wall Street

Mod note: Blast from the Past - "Best of Eddie." This was originally posted in September 2011.

Holy smoke. This is incredible. Former NFL player and coach, and current NFL commentator Herm Edwards delivered this address to this year's crop of NFL rookies on June 29, and over 90% of it applies to people starting out on Wall Street. This is one of those amazing speeches given by a coach, like John Wooden used to do, that will stand the test of time. Stop whatever you're doing and watch these videos, and take notes (especially about the rented jersey and the Rule of One). You'll be glad you did:

You gotta love how old school he is, too. I love that he's rockin' the overhead projector instead of a flashy PowerPoint.

Herm, I'm changing my life because of you. Time to retire the Mr T premium set...

That was a weapon of mass motivation right there, thanks Edie. Too bad most of us prospective monkeys will never see this.

I have to return some video tapes.

God bless y'all and thank ya

Still not sure if I want to spend the next 30+ years grinding away in corporate finance and the WSO dream chase or look to have enough passive income to live simply and work minimally.

Wow ancient thread.

Great stuff though! Not quite sure where the rented jersey applies to Wall Street. Group is more important than anyone in it? Firm's reputation must be watched? That's my favourite part of the speech, just not sure how it's related.
