Personally wouldn't want to live in Downtown as a recent grad. Midtown, The heights or rice village/med center would my recommendations.
Go live near Washington or in Midtown if you're recent grad. You lose the ability to walk to work (you'll be 5-10 min by car) but you gain being close to stuff you'll do at your age.
And you don't need a room mate, time to grow up.
