How are you spending your bonus?

For those of you in HF or other roles which do a CY bonus.

This year I don’t really feel like I need to get anything big like a watch. Just taking gf for a really nice dinner and getting my brother a guitar. Maybe some small random nice items like a towel warmer

Consulting, smaller Christmas bonus than I expected (but at my company, if you got any semblance of a bonus - that means you're safe from a PIP and I thought I've been a low performer this year). Planning to job search in January as I hate my job so this gives me a cushion that I'm around 'average' in my job and don't have to put in more effort.

Putting the money in the market. Kinda happy though, this raises my budget for the 40x rent rule as I plan to move to Queens or Brooklyn (not by much, still slightly out of the range of luxury apartments I've been eyeing). But the budget is sweet for some spacious walk up apartments.

Need to keep what I get this year in cash unfortunately.

First of all a big chunk is deferred; what I do get immediately in cash the government takes almost half of immediately.

In a few months I'm moving countries. Its pretty common to pay annual rent upfront there apparently so that's already a big chunk of change. Then I'll need to furnish the place as I've always had furnished apartments and thus don't own anything. Then I'll need to buy a car.

Should have some left over after all that but will still need a big chunk of change and don't want to dip into savings.
