How can startups afford parental leave?
If you're running a startup and one of your employees demands parental leave, how do you afford such a thing?
Even if it's unpaid, that's still at least 2-3 months of a person being MIA. For a startup, I can't imagine keeping that employee as a viable option. I'd need to start looking for new hires ASAP.
If it's paid, then that's even more of an issue. I simply cannot see how a startup can afford to offer parental leave AND pay an employee for its duration.
Does anyone have experience and/or anecdotes with regards to this situation?
