How did you choose your investing path?

Know that there's a lot of info on this site on the characteristics of different investing paths in finance (PE, HF, VC, etc) but would love to hear more about WHY you chose the investing path you did.

How did you choose which path to go down? What about PE or HF or VC drew you in relative to one of the others?

Unfortunately, many may be motivated for prestige. The stupid stereotypical Harvard>GS>HBS>KKR is complete bullshit and people should focus more on their interest. Few will get this exact career route and if it would out for them that's fine, but people need to be more open into the other choices. Most people on here are not that stupid but I know there is a lot of this "prestige" mentality.
