How do you cure baldness?

Men of WSO,

I think I'm starting to bald. I started noticing my hairline has been tilting a bit because the hair along the sides of my forehead is no longer growing. Knowing that many on here face a similar problem, and have the money to get this fixed, how are you treating hair loss? I use pomade and hairspray on my hair and I heard that it may contribute to hair loss, but I'm not ready to give up my hairdoo. No one in my family suffers from hair loss except for my grandfather. I heard about Keeps, minoxidil, and hair transplant surgery, tell us your experience/recommendations. Thank you.

I’m on finasteride and minoxidil. I’ve seen noticeable results over the half a year or so that I’ve been regularly taking both. I’d try and start taking them as soon as you can.

I do not think there is any nearly guaranteed cure for baldness except a transplant.  The effectiveness of all other remedies will vary based on the person.  One person might have success with finasteride while the next guy may not have good results.  Your hair genes are probably the most important factor in determining the effectives of a treatment.  I highly doubt pomade has a negative impact on hair growth.  Hair growth starts with the scalp and if you put crap on your head that clogs up the scalp, hair is going to have trouble growing.  I could be wrong but I do not think pomade gets into the scalp.  I think hair gel does get into the scalp is terrible for your hair.   I have no idea about hair spray.

Minoxidil and Finasterid, combined with microneedling. That's the "big 3" these days.

Long term would be to get a high-quality hair transplantation. But you should have tried meds for at least a year before you get a HT - as you'll need to be on those afterwards. Dutasteride has become popular the past few years.

The hair loss industry is notorious for perpetually being "5 years away" from a cure, but tbh - I think things are picking up. So who knows, what things will be like 5-10 years from now.
