How many interviews have you had in your life?

I'll have had my 31st interview next week. Admittedly, 6 were pre-degree and relatively unskilled.

If I add each round of interviews to that number, it would probably be around 45 actual interviews.

That's well over 100 people that have scrutinised me professionally.

Is that a lot?

You'd think I'd be able to hold my nerve by this point right

Keep going. The more the better if done for the right reasons. It might be a lot for some people and it might be a little for others

The spreadsheet started after graduation, didn't look any sooner for a job and went through the entire career, multiple countries, languages, career changes, etc.
It is actually just a sheet as part of all other stuff I put in the file, all my personal stuff and even business ideas are in the same excel file. It is the oldest file I have, about 10 years old.

I had more interviews when I was starting off, and the peak of job offers came in my business prime. I am still in it, but it slowed down due to the pandemic. It averages out to 25 interviews each year, but 2020 will change that logic entirely. Had zero calls last year.

Personally, I’m not sure if I can count. My friend (he went to Penn UG and now also has a JD/MBA from HBS) who was at GS and now at PJT RSSG once told me that everything is an interview. Like even coffee chats or just networking calls or even somewhat this forum. So if that’s true to that extent, then I don’t think I can count

I wouldn't say that. He's a nice guy. I'm just giving you a little info on him. Maybe he is above average when it comes to prestige, but overall he's a chill, normal guy

1500 - 2000 applications

200 - 300 phone screens

100 - 200 in person interviews

whats your success rate

I’ve been in several different industries, but probably have had 20 - 30 offers from those stats. When I was younger I was always focused on a better job and pretty much kept applying after undergrad for 7 years just networking and interviewing. I went out on my own for a bit after that.

Then I largely was against going back into the corporate world unless I found the perfect gig so just kept looking and looking until I realized I would be most happy doing my own thing for the time being and not having a manager.
