Dead serious: as few as possible. It simply isn't possible to have meaningful interactions with 200 people at a wedding, let alone the outrageous per-head costs..
I don't have 20 people I like let alone 200
200+, ended up with 170/180.
160, it was a good number
Oh no, Isaiah_53_5 💎🙌💎🙌💎 you're getting hitched?!
Don’t forget a table or two for the WSO crew.
haha yeah I will def invite some WSO peeps for my wedding - no doubt
that would be badass
we intentionally did ours in California (most of family/friends live on East Coast). Invited around 250-275 and about 160 came. This way no one was offended they didn't get invited.
We have about 120 - 150 coming.
congrats!
Thx! My wife and parents are dealing with everything. I'm just showing up lol
Congrats man, that's a lot of people!
My wife and I got married on the beach on Kauai, just the two us, someone we met taking photos and the woman doing the ceremony. The next day we backpacked the Kalalau trail and the whole thing was fantastic. Back stateside, we had a reception with about 50 people. We are always incredulous at the amount of money people pay for weddings.
Marriage is nowhere near the horizon from me, I'm not even in a relationship, but if I was to get married today, I can think of no more than 10 people who would be attending. I have my three best friends I've now known for over two decades, and then a handful of other people and that's about it on my side. Whoever would be coming from her side would be a different matter entirely and would most likely add to the total number of humans attending.
Animals are another matter. Dogs are very much welcome, as are horses.
Agree with this. Don't see why it's expected to invite a bunch of people you sort of like and don't really know that well. At my wedding I only want people I'm close with
I invited 150 to be kind to parents for a v difficult to attend destination wedding with an expectation of ~75 due to friends with young children / busy schedules / lack of funds for some family. We ended up with 80 guests which was ~80% friends by design. Great outcome and no hard feelings held by anyone.
depends tbh, but I do want to get married in the Traditional Latin Mass form, or at least a more reverential NO form. I don't know how many of my close friends would want to stick around for that though, so would make more sense to have the ceremony and then an off-site reception which some of my friends have done.
>TLM
Unfathomably based and traditionalist-pilled. I go to one as well.
it's all the rage these days. It is great though tbh, I don't want to sound annoying about it but after starting to go last year it has had a noticeable effect on my spirituality, prayer life, charity, and solidarity.
Sadly my diocese doesn't allow most sacraments in the TLM form apparently.
Would: Somewhere between 100-200
Did: Somewhere around 10, thanks COVID
140ish
This was during COVID and turned out to be perfect. Any more in my opinion and it feels too much like a meet and greet rather than a wedding
just make a Facebook event globally and you may get 50k-200k attendees
0. Just go to a tropical island vacation with your wife instead of wasting money on boring traditional celebration.
so you don't even invite your wife?
That's the goal.
60-80 to the ceremony, an extra 100 to the party afterwards
Well now that you asked, you are required to invite every person on this website.
haha bet
I think we invited 260, were shooting for 220 or so to actually attend, ended up with like 210ish.
Lot of family obligations, so the number of people we actually knew and wanted to invite was somewhere around 100.
150 that ended up being around 100
So all hypothetical for now...
But let's say immediate family (parents + brother), a couple other relatives and maybe a dozen close friends and plus ones. My guess is SO would be similar, so works out to somewhere around 50, but unlikely more than 100.
Honestly am thinking I want to drop 100k on the shindig regardless so I can ball out on one stupid and incredibly fiscally irresponsible thing. So depending on how many attendees it could be very nice or pretty nice, I guess.
