How much is your monthly rent?

I just signed my lease and it comes out to $2000/month before utilities/internet/etc. This is also in a shitty city, for just a studio (not a fan of having roomates). Building is 2 years old. I only signed it because it's close to work. For the peace of mind it gives, I think its worth it.

Coming from paying $500 in college, this feels very steep. Curious to hear what you guys are paying?

$945/mo, living in Southern California. Why pay the extra premium to live alone when you spend 40hrs/week at work + time out with friends, family, etc? Especially when rent is wasted money and you will never own the apt? When it comes down to it, you don't spend as much time as home as you think. Try to look at having roommates like someone is paying you an extra $500-700/mo. Even just one roommate can cut down rent significantly. Living well below your means allows you to bank the rest and/or spend the remaining money on travel and other hobbies. That trade off is well worth it if you ask me.
