How to have more opinions on things?

Title.

I feel as if I am unable to produce my own opinions on things, such as sports or politics or anything in general to be frank. I used to be very strongly opinionated and confident on my own values, but have recently just been going with the flow of things rather than being intellectual in conversations.

Any thoughts on how to better this before I start banking? Don't want to be a people pleaser and get myself into workload trouble or be braindead.

You probably do have an opinion on subjects, but maybe not the ones people are often referring to when doing small talk. i.e. sports, politics, crime, or the weather.

instead, you could start a topic during a discussion where you have an active interest in. This could be a sport you are playing, a technology that fascinates you or a specific car model you are driving because of certain features. Maybe there is also topics that all humans have to do and talk about, like food and cooking. you must have interesting views on these.

It's not uncommon to feel like you've lost your sense of strong opinions and confidence in your values. This could be due to various reasons such as a change in environment, lack of exposure to new ideas, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the vast amount of information available in today's world.

To better this, one approach is to actively seek out new information and perspectives on various topics that interest you. Read books, watch documentaries, attend lectures, or engage in discussions with people who have different viewpoints than your own. This will help you to develop a more nuanced and informed opinion on a subject.

Additionally, it's important to reflect on your values and beliefs and understand why they are important to you. This will give you a stronger foundation to build your opinions on and allow you to confidently express them in conversations.

Quantity of opinions doesn't matter. Quality of opinions matter.
