How to maximize 3 months in NYC

I will be spending the summer interning in NYC and am curious what interesting things I should take advantage of. Hoping for atypical things to do (i.e not "seeing the Statue of Liberty"). Places to check out, things to experience, places to eat, events to attend, etc.

Whatcha got?

LOL. Intern indeed that place is a sweaty sausage-fest.

One place I found that was fun to just relax at was the Press Lounge. If you're not feeling Hudson Terrace or Cielo or some other loud ass club, it's a cool place which has a nice chill vibe to it.

Hey, went to college in NYC; though I now work out west. My list (though maybe not your preferences).

Cookie/pastry: Levine Bakery, around 74th and Amsterdam

Drinks/bars/clubs: Bar downstairs (near bryant park), the park, the jane

Sights: see the villages (east & west)--tour the art galleries and walk the high line if it's nice out, then grab dinner nearby

Museum: seriously, do see some. Bring your student ID for discounts. Neue Gallerie and Frick are my faves

If you like the arts, see Shakespeare in the Park (in Central Park), and chekc out what other concerts are going on

If you have a free weekend, take the LIRR to the beach--don't have to go far, just take the Orange to Long Beach.

Most of all, walk around the neighborhoods, though avoid the trash piles. It's a lively place and I miss it.

So my favorite restaurants are all along the 1 line/UWS since that was convenient for me in college.

Indian (South Indian)--Saravana Bhavaan (sp?) is very good, on Amsterdam & c. 82ns Ramen--Jin Rame, on Bway & 125th Pizza/Italian sitdown--Don Giovanni's, around the high line Halal cart...skip Halal Guys (overpriced) and go to any cart where the guy is cooking Cafe--Hungarian pastry shop; the basement cafe in Neue Gallerie; Irving Farm; Joe (last two are chains) Chinese--explore Chinatown, be adventurous

For everything else, there's seamless (and as a summer analyst, that's the bulk of it). Most of all, get 2-3 friends from your program and go out to eat/explore the city on weekends.
