How To Move On From The Love Of Your Life.

WSO I have a dilemma. Sparing you the details I've been on this rock for 25/26 years and knew a woman for 20 years, long story short and sparing you the details. No contact for 2/3 years I finally wanna move on with my life. What's the best non toxic way of going about it? Currently whenever she pops up in my mind I kinda just push her away and focus on other things and I can date other women and have but I would like to properly be 100% over this woman before moving onto the next.

Kind of hard to respond without the details. Is this like a neighbor you grew up with and dated or messed around with a bit as teens but then went your own ways as adults or were you engaged and talking about marriage but she left because you cheated on her? The details mean a lot in this instance.

But to respond generically: you're probably remembering an idealized version of either who she was or who you want her to be, not who she is. That ideal isn't real, the person is, and people are flawed. The moment you realize that, you can move on a whole lot faster.
