I've been interested in television production / writing for a while. Obviously there are few stories of figures like Steve Mnuchin moving from finance to hollywood, but does the community know of any others? Any firms that have particularly strong connections with the media industry?

Very interesting. How does one get into a position to do that? Join a TMT group at a big bank, make your way up, then eventually break off some clientele? That's 20, 25 years... lol
It seems like the best route is to join a boutique IB/firm that specializes in media, once you have contacts and a network you can do more of what you want in the industry. Seems like a pretty niche area, hopefully someone who works in this field can chime in.

The entertainment industry is huge. Do you want to work on the creative, financial, business, etc. side?
Ideally, creative. But I think my skillset in IB would better lend itself to business (strategy).

Just curious, how common is it for say an analyst to transition into say a production company after their two years? I know a lot of banks are strengthening their media and entertainment groups in LA, as studios take in money from PE/HE.
If someone wanted to say transition to the production company side (finance), how difficult would it be? Paycut obviously, but hours and better lifestyle I would think.
