As opposed to what? The standard for Wall Street has been laptops with docking stations for years now. Unless you're going to use graphing paper or some shit, there's no alternative here.

Probably cause Hr doesn't want interns working weekends/late nights. At my BB interns aren't even given remote log-in access because previous interns used to get sent home and then log in all night and all weekend for absolutely no reason (not working on anything just to appear "available")

No most interns are provided a sandbox to do their work in and the FT analysts move it into Excel

I was doing all my modeling on pen and paper. Strictly used an abacus for calculations
I was given a box of crayons and a notebook, so no. Can’t speak for everyone else though
