Is it worth moving to NYC a month or two before official start date?

Hi all,

I’m starting my FT analyst stint in July. I have never lived in the city before so I’m a bit unfamiliar with the process, but from what I understand prices tend to climb around the summer months, so my question is:

Would it be worth it to move in around May and just eat the extra few months of rent? Do prices climb up enough to justify it?

Thanks!

I would definitely do it, if for no other reason than, when work kicks off, you will have very little time, and will enjoy the fact that you spent some time getting your apartment set up the way you like, you might make some friends, enjoy the city, etc etc. My experience was that once I started work, I started thinking less about money and more about time, but different people might have different experiences. Enjoy!
