Is living in Brooklyn worth it?

Any of you have any insight into whether it's worth it to live in Brooklyn and commute to work in the city (particularly Midtown)? I'll be starting FT in IB next year and am looking into housing options. I'd like to keep my budget below $2000, and ideally live alone.

I know there are some pretty small studios in Manhattan for that price. Brooklyn has better options, but obviously is farther away. Is the commute from Brooklyn - Midtown doable (I'll probably be taking Ubers back home most nights, if that changes anything).

Would appreciate some thoughts, thanks!

my former roommate moved from manhattan to brooklyn and loves it...live near a subway stop that is a straight shot to work and you'll be fine...lots of bars and restaurants...often even more than manhattan.

just google it...you're welcome
