Kevin Durant Beats Down on a Failing Underarmour

Under Armour has been doing badly for some reasons described below and Durant made it worse for the company his team mate endorses, by apparently just stating the obvious:

Nobody wants to play in Under Armours. I‘m sorry. The top kids don’t because they all play Nike ... Everybody knows that. They just ... nobody don’t want to say nothing.
- KD, “The Ringer” podcast on Monday

Stephen Curry can't be happy because he has an equity stake in the company, according to Reuters.

After the comment, Under Armour's stock price went down 3.5% to $16.34. In August, when it announced it will cut jobs and close stores, its stock went down immediately by 7%. It is down 44% since the beginning of the year.

Do you think its price will somewhat revert to the mean, or is Under Armour a sinking ship? Will Curry care about Durant's comments, or is he loaded enough, considering his great NBA contract?

I'm not an expert on sneaker technology, but I just find Under Armour to be ugly. At least Nike used to make some good looking sneakers. I guess they kinda lost that, too, seeing that Adidas seems to run that game nowadays.

Agree with Matrick, Nike was running the sneaker game (excuse the pun) for years and then Adidas has come through and the shift is rather noticeable.

I think that Under Armour is trying to poach athletes with sizable contracts before they get famous, such as Curry, Anthony Joshua, etc. and to be honest I see them doing rather well.

As a kid, you want your idols shoes, it isn't until later down the track you start to focus on comfort, etc. and I think UA hasn't been in the famous shoe market for a super long time.

I just hope they don't do the whole Reebok/T-Mac thing.

Man...Reebok...same shit. So dependent on Iverson. That Answer 4 was sick, though

They did have some fire shoes, the T-Mac's with the inflatable sides of the shoe... nasty shoes.

I would have loved to have seen Reebok's management when they had all the revenue from T-Mac and AI coming together, 'We're going to dominate the game!'.

Nek minnit, AI's talking bout practice and T-Mac's in China with paper knees.

Plenty more to these companies than basketball shoes. For instance, I think Under Armour's golf apparel is far superior to Nike's. The difference in polo collar construction alone will make me buy UA over Nike anytime.
