LA Lakers Trade, Let's talk about it

The Lakers trade Clarkson and Nance for Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye, and a protected first rounder.

Who won the trade?

As a Lakers fan obviously I think this a win for us. We free up cap space for this summer. Kuzma and Randle will get more playing time. And the first round pick is extremely valuable. As much as I liked Nance and JC, this trade makes a lot of sense.

Unfortunately, as much as I love them, the Lakers are probably still a couple years off from being serious contenders.

I think it's pretty decent, clears up some space for later.

LA is in great shape to be a top contender one day with this young core. Kuz, Lonzo, Ingram (lest we forget this dude is only 20 yrs old), and Randle can make for a scary team in a few years. People underestimate how good Lonzo and Ingram can be, plenty of time for both of these fellas to develop. Lonzo has the right attitude, and we are already seeing plenty of improvement on Ingram's end.

As for the trade, one of Nance or Randle had to go. OP, I like this trade for LA for reasons you mentioned. If they can get rid of Deng and his gross contract, they are posed to make some power plays this summer or (hopefully) summer 2019.

Dropping Deng is going to be major if it happens, I have high hopes.
