LATE START ON MATH---NO HOPES FOR EARLY INTERNSHIP?
Hi,
I was wondering if starting at a lower level math/econ might kill my chances of landing an internship during my sophomore year? I did get a 5 on Ap calc AB but because my entire class got 2s or less I feel the need to repeat Calc I. However, I know many of my peers will be taking Calc II which is 2 levels higher...The same goes for econ because although I self-studied for Macro and Micro my school didn't schedule the tests for me so I will have to repeat whereas many of my peers from better schools are taking upper level classes.
What do you guys think? Will it significantly hurt my chances? Should I enroll in a summer session next year so I can ahead or should I do research?
Thanks in advance for your input!
It really doesn't matter. Just learn the basic finance concepts yourself before your sophomore interviews if you're worried. It's better getting some experience in the next summer than doing summer school.
You haven't started your freshman year yet? This is sad. Enjoy college.
Calculus is probably the easiest math there is other than basic add/sub/div/mult. Stop complaining. If you know how to do algebra II, you can do Calc. no problem
If you got a 5 on the Calc AB test, why would you repeat calc 1? Your test scores suggest you understand the material. Don't waste your time repeating an easy class.
i really doubt anyone is going to care whether you have completed calc 1 or 2 when you are interning there
Thanks everyone for your replies! I think I'll take the next level calc and just brush up on calc I material before school.
I would take the easier calc as a gpa booster.
