Life is Funny

Life is funny.

Thought diversity programs were my ticket to success, only to have all of the offers I accepted (all summers) to be where I went through the normal process.

Thought networked was my key to success, spoke with 50 people at one banks and knew the MD which did the superday at a mid tier BB, only to not get the offer. Got offers at firms where I only spoke with 1-5 people.

Thought I was going to go to a BB, only to end up a EB.

Thought technicals were going to be 70% of the superday process, only for it to be 30%.

Thought kids from targets were gods amongst men, only to befriend some to realize they are the exact same as everyone else.

Thought that people would discount my past experience since it was not in high finance, only to have VPs at all of my superdays loved it and thought it differentiated me from others.

Life is funny.

I say all of this to highlight how much reality differed from what I expected. Keep an open mind and you will be amazed at how far you will go.

Are you a girl or guy?

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

As we age, we tend to lose our sense of humor. This occurs because as time goes by, we become increasingly obsessed with achieving goals that were once unimportant. People get into the habit of spending their time trying to achieve certain things, and they forget about the simple pleasures in life. Once people begin to notice this, they try to find ways to make sure that they don't become too serious. They spend less time at work and more time enjoying the company of family and friends.
