Living at home or moving to city during covid?

1st year analyst and have been living at home while cities are more or less shut down during Covid. Has been great saving up a huge amount of money with 0 expenses but I’m starting to wonder when I should move out. With it beginning to get cold though (FT is Chicago for me) I’m not sure if it’s worth it to move out quite yet. What are your guys thoughts?

I’m in Chicago in my mid twenties. Cases are spiking again and restrictions are starting to increase. I would 100% live at home at least through the winter. Several of my friends are going home to their parents’ from Thanksgiving to January. Chicago winters are already brutal, and with COVID closing indoor dining/bars there won’t be much to do. Might as well save the money.

Stay at home and save your money. No brainer. Just try not to kill your parents with covid like a dumbass. Sit out the dating and party scene, or quarantine yourself.

Keep saving. You should only move out when forced to go back into the office or when you see rents start to stabilize. From what I've seen - they keep coming down, and I've no reason to think they won't keep going after another wave of lock downs. Besides - there's literally nothing to do in a freezing Chicago, with no indoor dining or anything else.

am I the only one here who has an allergic reaction to spending time with their parents? bro, if I were you I'd get a short term rental in Miami, you can find places for $2-3k/mo, which I'm betting ain't far off from Chicago rent, you get warm weather and independence

can't walk around naked with rents around

can't leave the bong on the coffee table with rents around

can't bend your girl over in the kitchen with rents around

I mean sure, if literally all you're doing is working, fine, stay at home. but this is an opportunity you probably won't get for a while, take advantage of it. plus, you know what's better than an extra $5-10k? FREEDOM

That actually sounds great if I could get some friends to go in on it with me
