I am a Media Consultant, and travelled on a media trip back in 1996 sponsored by Thirfty Car Rental and the North of Boston Convention Bureau, upon which the illustrious Ms. Rothman was a participant during her days at WPTZ/NBC Plattsburgh,NY. While she was just a morning newsreader, she made sure to tell whomever would listen that she was "on the Today show" (yeah, the 2 minute news cut-ins locally), and acted like she was the world's top anchor. I had to laugh when another media guest on the trip used to obliquely reference her in the live read ads he would do for Enterprise Car Rental...about how they had locations in "Agoura Hills,CA ; Juneau,AK ; Grand Junction,CO ; and Plattsburgh,NY --- there's an Enterprise location in your neighborhood, wherever you are...and just 1 number to dial...1-800-RENT-A-CAR...that's so easy to remember, you don't have to read the TelePrompTer!" (referencing all the stops to then on the Rothman career trajectory).
She was a ditz and quite frankly clueless. I was married to one of her former co-workers, so I heard plenty. I attempted to become friends with her and was simply blown off, yet she was the best of friends with my then husband. Then she came back to town after she moved to Bloomberg and she basically acted like she was too good for everyone.
