Lot of depressing posts on here recently...

It seems like 1 in every 10 or so posts now are someone either losing their offer/job, getting crushed at work, or just generally losing it because of COVID. Goes to show how much COVID and lockdown are fucking up people’s sanity and lives. And unfortunately I think it gets worse once fall/winter roll around and the weather gets bad and the election takes place. Hopefully we can get an effective vaccine soon or else more and more people are gonna lose it

Don't worry 'bout a thing...

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Think because for a lot of us (myself included), this is the first major "episode" we've had to deal with as professionals/young adults. And I think that a lot of us are used to everything being pretty peachy in our lives, so for something like the pandemic/protests/large unemployment/swaths of shitty politicians/etc hits the country, it will leave a lot of people shook.

Peachy? Really?

I walked out of Manhattan in 2001 after several hours pouring over the contact info for the parents in my HS looking for WTC exchange codes. (the three digits after 212 tell you where a landline is) I didn't know what was going on at first, but looking out the window to see the F16s circling overhead really drove things home. I graduated college into the global financial crisis in 2008. I've thrived despite adversity, both bigotry and financial. I'm doing OK, but this lockdown really is unpleasant and psychologically draining.

Covid sucks bro - I haven't gone to Muay Thai in forever

"Analyst 3+ in CorpFin" I lost my mind well before Covid, but it certainly exacerbated it.

There is light at the end of the tunnel. We are all suffering in one way or another but can make it out! Personally, I’m still employed...working 80-100 hours weekly and my bonus was near non existent. Somethings are good, others suck badly, but we all are going through our own battles. To al the people who had recently gone through stuff, you are not alone. Everyone has their battles, and some losses. We are all human and all have our struggles. Good luck to everyone, you can do it!
