"Yes." - John McCain
'I don't like people who were captured'
Tons of my friends got great offers with GPAs between 3.2 and 3.5 at a target school
Yes. Dropped out too and will net 7 figures this year. School is completely useless unless you go to a great school with a solid network.
I go to a target school and am trying to build a strong network, but I've become severely disillusioned with going the traditional high finance route recently. I guess the only thing stopping me from dropping it all together is not knowing exactly what else is out there. I've heard stories of e-commerce where people can become quite successful if you put in the work. What industry are you in?
Digitally enabled direct to consumer brands (think Warby Paker, Bonobos, etc... but way smaller) and eCommerce. Transitioned out of hardcore operating and more into PE though. Mostly buying up minority stakes/acquisitions now. It's much more scalable and my brain is better at it than operating.
you don't have a BA and managed to get into PE? props, that's a great story. do you mind sharing more about how you made that happen?
I use my own cash to do deals. I get offers from PE funds to work with them as an operator but it's not really worth my time as I end up trading time for money.
